Battle of the Mountains
Tongariro the mighty mountain, loved Pihanga the lady
mountain.
Pihanga was sad because Tongariro was her mate and
the other mountains were fighting him.
Taranaki glared at Tongariro.
For days the battle went on.
Fiery boulders went everywhere.
Tongariro won the battle.
Taranaki went west.
Tauhara kept looking back at Pihanga and only got
to end of Lake Taupo.
When the sun came up the mountains froze where
they were rooted to the spot.
